Gropiusstadt (Neukölln)

This set of buildings has been built on a project by Walter Gropius in 1960 and It became famous as the place in which the German writer Christiane F. lived from childhood to adolescence, author of the novel "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" (We Children from Bahnhof Zoo).

With the construction of the Wall on 13 August 1961 abruptly changed the environment in West Berlin since no growth areas were more available to the outside, the project was compressed significantly. Instead of the originally planned 14,500 homes, the final plan was of almost 19,000 residential units for more than 50,000 people.
