it was an old Meat Factory, together with a bakery and railway track to transport the goods, owned by the Konsumgenossenschaft (KGB) - Consumer cooperative.
The idea behing the KGB was: Shopping at large, selling on a small scale and an equitable distribution of the surplus. The simple but effective idea to protect against rising prices were above all workers and craftsmen and quickly spread in Germany. Soon struggled quite a popular movement for state recognition of cooperatives.
Unfortunately the old meat factory and bakery have been sold for bankrupt in 1993, but the building of the KGB is still operative on one side of the area.
